Getting Pregnant with Polycystic Ovaries (PCOS)

Pregnant WomanFirst off, if you are struggling with PCOS, or Polycystic Ovaries you are not alone. There are many women who are struggling with PCOS and are having a hard time getting pregnant naturally. Let’s try to understand a little about what this ovarian problem is.

PCOS can be genetic or come about because of an unhealthy lifestyle. Which ever your case is, this doesn’t mean that you can’t get pregnant. If you are suffering from a bad lifestyle, putting good habits in your life may help to heal PCOS in your body. If it is genetic, you may not experience complete relief, but you can control it.

What is PCOS?

PCOS is generally identified when you have irregular periods or no periods at all. It is also given the name Stein Leventhan Syndrome. Of course, if you have no periods, that is going to make it very difficult to conceive. Extra hair growth and acne can also identify it. Many women do experience cysts in their ovaries, but this doesn’t always mean you have PCOS.

What to do!

The best thing for you would be to consult your OBGYN and make sure that you are suffering form this problem. They will run a couple of tests on you that will include ultrasounds and some blood work. There are symtoms you can look for. If you are having less than 9 menstrual periods a month, you should probably check with your doctor. If you experience extra hair growth, this is also a sign or result of PCOS.

There is some medication you can take like Clomid and some types of surgery known as ovarian drilling. However, before trying any of that, I would encourage you to try the best way…to do it naturally! What does this mean?

Live healthy!

Many people who suffer from PCOS are generally overweight and need to bring this under control. If you hormones are all out of whack, becoming healthy may help bring polycystic ovaries under control. So start by living a healthy lifestyle! Watch what you eat and exercise. Also…just make sure you relax and have fun. You’re body won’t fix overnight, but it will take a while of consistent lifestyle habits to bring your body back to it’s proper balance!

If you have done all you can to get pregnant naturally with the guidance of your doctor (OBYGN), then going a medication route might be an option. But we want to exhaust all other options first!
